    tax eat the rich.

governments taxed rich people before. it went away because money is power and the rich are in power, they simply decided not to anymore.

solving the problem involves socialism, as in rebuilding the system to impede this accumulation of wealth in the first place. and sometimes the deposition of these people.

taxes are a volatile stopgap solution that look leftist if you squint, but they will use violence if needed to undo that win whenever they feel like they need that money back. this WILL NOT solve the problem by itself.

  • depends on your threat model.

want to hide from advertising and general automated corpo creepness? sure. a reasonably hardened iphone will mostly do the trick.

want to hide from governments, three letter agencies or similar baddies who could simply order apple to give you the info? fuck no. apple unilaterally controls all the code that runs on it, and is itself subject to them.

theres the fact signal uses your phone number too…

  • i know we don’t have that technology right now. i see it as very plausible in the future.

It’s entirely possible that consciousness is non-computable.

thats a hell of an assumption, is thinking the same as consciousness? how would consciousness be non-computable, if our brains are composed of discrete computation units (the neurons)? granted they are very different from computers, but i can see it being emulatable with enough processing power to account for all the variables.

we don’t know for a fact only fleshy brains composed of neurons are somehow capable of experiencing it. do we know what consciousness even is?

is that even how we define “thinking” too? why would a theoretical future ai that could theoretically have a logic process like ours not be considered “thinking”?
