If they did so, they’d also require Zamboni drivers to do their circuits in the opposite direction, counterclockwise instead of clockwise. They like to drive along the boards on the driver’s side so they can tuck up against the wall gently & see just how close they’re getting.

Indigenous names are heavily used. Half the states have Native American derived names, a much larger proportion than I thought. Pre-European population density was much lower, though so there were a lot fewer settlements to name.
The city government spinning up its own instance makes sense. You could then have accounts for the various departments, transit, road and highway, parks and rec, the library, the mayor’s office…

Yakuza maps have never been particularly huge. Even in the most recent game, the new map is maybe on the scale of GTA III or Vice City. Still, they manage to pack 15-20 minigames into each game’s word map, some of which involve driving or riding around the map, plus the inevitable scavenger hunts and hidden collectibles.
It also makes upgrading cheaper, though your little brother playing as Player 2 will have to suffer through having an inferior controller. (As is tradition.)
