The move to try to limit secondhand physical game sales and requiring the Internet to download the whole game in some instances was part of my decision to skip this generation, if I’m even going to stick with Nintendo at all in the future.

Yeah, it’s natural to have spaces that aren’t for me. It’s fine. I really just have an issue with spaces where I am supposedly welcome to be hostile towards me.

I am disappointed but not surprised. The attitude of men here reminds me a lot of default subs in Reddit. People tend to be more civil, but there is so much “but what about men?” when talking about women’s issues or belittling women still. Business as usual on the Internet, but I can see why it would cause women to avoid Lemmy.

I haven’t been back to Reddit, but it makes me miss the small niches where I didn’t see that as often.

The only truly “good” consumption is to only use local products ethically produced from members of your community. The further you get from that, the more opportunities for the transaction to stray from “not good.”

It is very difficult or impossible to be 100% good.

When I consider this, my main concerns are “do I want to give money to this company?” and “is there a morally better alternative that meets my needs, including going without?”

Once you answer those questions for yourself, you should have a better idea if you want to continue doing business with them.

HILARIOUS BROTHER

Sure, people of every gender do it. I was, at the time, not filtering by gender. I noticed that the useless answers were usually from men.

It doesn’t mean that men are inherently bad at it (some men had great profiles), but as a whole they presented themselves poorly compared to everyone else.

It’s been a minute, but it was an automatic “no” when someone would answer “what are 5 things you can’t live without” were stuff like food, water, and air. Yes, I know that. Tell me about yourself!

It was almost always men that answered that way.

I know I’m incredibly dull. I’m average looking. I was a single parent. A decent picture and a little about myself and I did alright though, even with the ladies.

I’ve never seen one of these characters wear shoes. It looks kind of cursed.

Even just the frozen food at your normal grocery store is really good. I’m pretty sure some of it it sourced in the same place these restaurants get their food. (I’m pretty sure I can get McDonald’s hash browns at my local Kroger.)

If you tend to buy in bulk, you might want to check out restaurant supply places like GFS. If I am doing bulk baking or cooking, I will sometimes pick up a few things from them. They are open to the public and sell a lot of stuff that restaurants use, too.

Seconding frozen veggies (and fruit). They’re frozen at their ripest. Makes for amazing roasted veggies in those cold winter months where I’m not feeling soup.
