  • I mean, I think Nintendo is a shitty, awful, greedy corporation, but this is just the tip of the iceberg for how tariffs will effect consumers. It’s bad for the economy and the GOP are a bunch of fucking morons for letting their prophet get to this stage.

And yes, I know all the chums will pipe in that their strategy is for all the billionaires to swoop in and buy up everything cheaply. But that’s very short sighted, as this type of bullshit is causing long-term damage to the US’s soft power and influence. Our allies and trading partners are literally forging new agreements without us, meaning even once the tariffs are over, things are not just going to magically go back to normal, if they ever even do.

  • Before anyone gets excited:

The Court of Appeals did, however, acknowledge that works made by a person with the assistance of AI can qualify for copyright, while also noting that no legal standard defines the amount of human participation necessary for such recognition.

I think the primary motivation for this guy to doggedly pursue this case, is so he could claim ownership over anything this/future model(s) produced, regardless of his involvement. It would’ve set a bad precedent in a lot of ways.

Anyway, people/corpos can still click a button to generate shit and claim copyright since the court acknowledges that any miniscule amount of human involvement qualifies.

  • And every mobile carrier I’ve seen in the US in my region (the Midwest) has ridiculously low data caps on 4G/5G internet service.

But on that note, yes, as you move farther from civilization, you get less civilization. That’s just a fact of the economic system those farmers just LOVE.

That doesn’t change the fact that virtually every facet of our lives requires internet connectivity. Paying bills, coordinating and conducting business, education, etc. Look, I’m not saying they should expect fiber connectivity to their rural homes. But satellites offer another option for Internet access and acting like it’s completely irrational for these folks to have it is ridiculous.
