I watch people like Ben Shapiro all the time because I don’t want to exclusively live in my echo chamber and it’s good to challenge your beliefs and staying up to date with all sides.

I prefer the more moderate conservatives but it’s good to watch everything.

Something i am concerned about here on Lemmy is the instant downvoting without discussion of dissenting opinions. Hardly conducive to bringing about a revolution if we won’t even engage with certain people.

Seems like a massive circle jerk at times where we can all feel superior because we have empathy. But i want actual change and not just to seem like I’m progressive.

I get what you’re saying but people like Ben Shapiro, Candice Owens, etc have proven themselves to be shitstain propagandists many years ago. Regularly consuming propaganda, even if you know what it is, is not healthy and it does affect you.

I agree it’s good to subject yourself to other viewpoints but I’m definitely not going to subject myself to actual propaganda

All news is propaganda, every side has an agenda it’s just some align more with our morals.

I for one need to know what the lunatics are being told by the grifters so I can formulate arguments against their outlandish claims.

Just my thoughts on it and I am a nobody really.

valid but I think the specific brand that Joe Rogan and Ben Shapiro have is obviously part of Republican media out reach that is becoming increasingly divorced from reality

That’s like saying, “Yeah like to drink Clorox because i like to know what the poison tastes like.”

I understand it though. I used to be like that. Now I’m too old to waste my time on them.

I don’t rightly expect whether I watch propaganda to change the opinions of those that believe it. Just because “they” won’t consume content I know to be good, that means I should consume content I know to be bad to balance it out?

The “other side” can’t be helped with mere words because they’ve been conditioned to ignore reality (or they’ve picked their position on feelings and don’t want to change). Libs watching Benny shaps lie and support genocide isn’t going to change the maga electorate.

As soon as you find a conservative who doesn’t lie, let me know and I’ll check out some of their content, but I don’t think there’s literally a single honest gop supporter these days.
