AI Art IS dying. In this video, you’ll hear how AI art is failing left and right, and it’s not doing as well as they say. It’s flawed, unethical, legally ambiguous, and that means it’s time is almost up. Artists: don’t worry about AI art, just persist. I believe in you!

I actually like how it’s bringing indy (TRUE INDY; as in single person) titles much higher quality because the programmers don’t have to be these multi-talented savants.
You’d be surprised at how much AI you’re already gulping down without realizing it’s AI, and how many things you’re saying are AI, that aren’t.
Plenty of indie game devs just commission an artist for this. Often with small upfront payments and a deal for a cut of revenue/profits. This just isn’t the problem I think you think it is. I also strongly doubt there’s been any major indie games that have used AI art, because it would have been news.
I do definitely agree though that there are a lot of things people say are AI that aren’t. I did this and was massively wrong once and I’ve become a lot more cautious about jumping to that conclusion now, lest a real artist be piled on.
I’m in a bunch of amateur game dev communities where it’s just teens and 20-somethings with no spare money, and I see it every single hour of every single day.
The whole “cut of the profits” doesn’t work for artists, because profits of $0 still mean you’re working for free. Most artists won’t oblige that kind of work.
Lots of these guys are using AI for the general concept, and then having other AI clean up the original work, either by turning it into 3D models, or using mixamo to add animations, etc. I know at least 8 of the indie games I’ve bought rather recently on steam use AI in various places, but with someone touching up the work afterwards to hide any defects.
Can you give some examples?
