  • honestly I reckon 12 hours would be good enough I only really sleep 6-7 hours and I’ll check my phone within half hour at most of waking up usually straight away and I need to watch something relaxing before sleeping so it’ll have been used just before I slept so I think 12 hours would be fine and on the super rare maybe I’m awake a super long time for reasons and sleep 12 hours ok the consequence is I have to unlock my phone with a pin instead of my finger and do it twice cause sim lock not that big a deal hell I think 10 hours would be too extreme and would trigger a bit even for me but I reckon it wouldn’t that often

  • you’re just going to interpret this is as proving you right and me as a cultist but the thing about no updates on gog is nothing to do with steam that’s the publisher steam doesn’t make them do that there’s no reason it’s the publisher/developers I don’t think valve can do no wrong but I would say steams never done anything bad to me valve includes gambling in all their multiplayer games that are full of children they were one of the earliest companies to make loot boxes their business model though arguably even worse as they gave all the tools for an external economy for those skins and gave the crates out abundantly to encourage you to buy the keys because you already have the crate but the steam division in valve has provided me with a consistently great experience in every way games on there own launcher almost always just work on linux refunds are trivial family sharing is great for making it even cheaper I don’t like drm and I’d use gog more if they didn’t kinda suck from a user perspective but even with heroic playing games on gog is a little jank on linux in a way it just isn’t with steam and gog has literally no family sharing I don’t play games from the shared library much but I like having it when I do and my siblings actually do play some games from my library a fair bit steam/valve is a company like any others that ultimately cares about profit not me or any other customer but unlike other companies they understand the value of long term thinking and good customer relationships they don’t care about me but they know I’m more likely to keep coming back and buying loads of games if they don’t keep trying to screw me over and add lots of good features that save me money and make my experience better

  • crisps probably don’t come from the US on the crisps wikipedia page in the history section it says

The earliest known recipe for something similar to today’s potato chips is in the English cook William Kitchiner’s book The Cook’s Oracle published in 1817, which was a bestseller in the United Kingdom and the United States. The 1822 edition’s recipe for “Potatoes fried in Slices or Shavings” reads “peel large potatoes… cut them in shavings round and round, as you would peel a lemon; dry them well in a clean cloth, and fry them in lard or dripping”.

Early recipes for potato chips in the US are found in Mary Randolph’s Virginia House-Wife (1824) and in N.K.M. Lee’s Cook’s Own Book (1832), both of which explicitly cite Kitchiner.

A legend associates the creation of potato chips with Saratoga Springs, New York, decades later than the first recorded recipe.

I skipped a bit with another early recorded version that was also from a british book but that’s it

I checked the book and it doesn’t claim to have invented it it just presents it with all the other recipes but that could just be the style of cookbooks at the time I dunno I’m not a historian but eh proof enough that there’s no evidence of them being american atleast and some evidence they’re maybe british
