Technically it was never released, but I was invited to a closed alpha (or beta?) for a game called Chroma, by Harmonix, the OG Guitar Hero people. It was a lot of fun and I’m still sad that it was canceled…

I’ve always been very curious about this technology, but I imagine that they wouldn’t be as good at transmitting high frequencies. I’m no audio engineer so it’s only a hunch of course. Do they sound comparable to a decent pair of buds in the ear?

Oh I agree 100% on your point about using a guide, but I have this weird fixation on beating it as if I had gotten it on release when I was a kid. The only thing I’m allowing myself is a PDF of the manual that came with it, and no save states. I finally played and beat Super Metroid just recently with the same restrictions (on my childhood SNES and a real cartridge!) and it felt very satisfying.

As for my long-term patience, I have a second monitor and countless hours of long-form YouTube content to keep me entertained through the mundane moments.

Metroid II, the original one for Game Boy. I want to play AM2R eventually but I want to properly appreciate the work that went into it. And I’m trying my hardest to do it, so far successfully, without consulting a map.

So far I have:

• bomb
• spider ball
• spring ball
• high jump boots
• Varia suit
• wave beam (replaced the ice beam)

After more than seven hours I’m starting to go insane, but my stubbornness knows no bounds. I’ve seen every room of the game at least 20 times and probably bombed every single tile. The only place I know for a fact is new is, well, entirely submerged in lava. I’m at an impasse 😞

I was very confused for a second because of the acronym. It doesn’t run well for me, also on a 2070, but it’s light years ahead of the open beta, in my experience.

Hopefully they fix all the bullshit that’s slowing our machines down. I believe World also had a pretty bad launch, but I didn’t play it until Iceborne released. And yeah, World runs beautifully on my hardware as well.

I agree generally, but I have to offer a counterpoint with Kingdom Come: Deliverance. I only just got back into it after bouncing off in 2019, and I wish I hadn’t stopped playing. I have a decent-ish PC and it still blows my entire mind when I go roaming around the countryside.

Like Picard said above, in due time this too will look aged, but even 7 years on, it looks and plays incredible even at less-than-highest settings. IMHO the most visually impressive game ever created (disclaimer: I haven’t seen or played Horizon). Can’t wait to play KC:D 2!

That has been a dream of mine for well over a decade. When I (rarely) play TF2 it’s with bots only, since they have all the vanilla stuff.

I miss the times when an entire team would do a Scout rush, with only the 3 vanilla weapons, just for the hell of it. It was always complete chaos. You can do it with bots, but it’s very tedious, and they only run along the ground from node to node. Give me a dozen Scouts flying off the rooftops spamming x5x5x5x5!

Also, does anyone else wish someone would bring back his crazy legs when he does the midair jump?

Conservative politics depend heavily on placing labels on everything because it’s a built-in way of telling the rubes what they should think and feel.
