YES. So many good apps that get abandoned. Donations are all well and good but I suspect they only really pay well for the high profile apps. If a paid app will keep a Dev motivated to keep it updated I am all for it.
Subscription apps can go fuck themselves though. (Charge me for the upgrades instead).
This is disappointing. Due to Kagi requiring an account and billing I would say transparency should be vitally important for a them since privacy concerns are going to be a large reason a lot of people are looking to switch from Google in the first place. It’s always a concern brought up when search alternatives are discussed in forums and the “just trust me BRO” is going to start to ring kind of hollow if they play little games like this.
For sure. YouTube creators shilling for honey while Honey stole their affiliation money shows how little time they spend vetting their sponsors. The stuff they peddle is usually a few ticks away from scam, pretty much always overpriced. The day sponsorblock stops working, is the day I stop paying for YouTube premium and using youtube. It’s a pity, because there is a lot of good content on there.
