I don’t mean to get in your face about this, but whether or not you’re critiquing institutional racism, your comment still sort of lands thoroughly in the “dangers of satire” zone. Meaning, joke or not, you are repeating the sentiments of the racists with little to no modification. The sarcasm is heavily implied, but you’re still speaking it into existence. I had a music tutor once who would say “practice makes permanent”, and I feel like your comment is sort of practicing thinking that someone can be “the wrong color”, and practicing thinking that a certain outcome is therefore expected.

At some point my lines got crossed between “Beefarino”, a fictional food stuff that was fed to a horse in an episode of Seinfeld which led to handsome cab ending levels of equine flatulence, and “reefer”. Out loud I think I say “weed” most often, but in my internal monologue I call it “reeferino” well over half the time.

Land of the free, home of the brave, indeed. This attack on free speech will continue to get worse. The farther we let it go, the longer it will take to claw back any sort of legitimate freedom. Criticism should not be illegal, and designing and selling shirts like this is supposed to be an example of American freedom. We’re about to have a new red scare (or are perhaps witnessing the first signs of the one we already have), this time with decades of social media content to scrape, facial recognition, and god knows what proprietary marketing “fingerprinting” data associated with our names/identity. The man who owns Tesla has made it clear he desires tyranny, and every one of those cars is festooned with cameras, roving, or sitting idle. Let alone operations like Waymo, driving around to wherever dispatched. Internet connected cameras on every street, our phones tracking our movements in real time, the internet of things, the privatization of legally protected security forces with no badging or oversight, arresting protestors, journalists, students, LEGAL CITIZENS. Make no mistake, they’ve raised the stakes already and this is not a game we can afford to lose.

During the last go around with that hideous pustule with the awful hair, major league soccer and it’s fans got into a rather messy and protracted row over banning “antifa” iconography, signs, chants, etc. It seems to be back on the back burner now though because I’m seeing antifa flag again in the supporter sections.

In theory the boox only has wifi. Presumably you could never connect it to anything, even by usb, if you loaded your books onto an sd card.

I recently got a Boox Go 6. It’s just a really simple android tablet with a paper type display. So whatever android reading app you use you could probably run it. Strictly in terms of privacy I’m not sure if it’s uniquely well suited. But I would expect it’s better than Kindle or Kobo.

We’ve had freedom of religion perhaps, but never freedom from religion. Christian gobbledygook is baked into America’s DNA, and deviation from that has always resulted in a paddling.

Take Trump for example. A dyed in the wool contrarian. The walking talking embodiment of cutting off ones nose to spite their face. Refuses to acknowledge any authority but his own, often at the hazard of himself and others. And even he feigns to bend the knee to religion, and play act at being a Christian. That’s how truly compulsory it is.

My personal rule, in broadest terms is that if I cancel someone, they are released upon death.

What warrants cancelling is pretty wishy washy, and I’m sure I’m hypocritical at times. But generally speaking, if the person is dead, I feel free to enjoy their body of work.

If the person is ruined, or in jail, it’s a grey area.

And if the person is continuing to work, with little to no repercussions. They’re banned.
