I’ve found the opposite to be the case unfortunately. Plex “just works” while my jellyfin server had almost constant issues with subtitles (two of my frequent users need these because of hearing problems) and would frequently crash requiring docker restarts.

I adopted jellyfin very early, used it for many (maybe 6?) years and these problems only got worse over time.

I always prefer open source (often to a fault) but I am glad I switched to Plex a few months ago. I got the lifetime pass for cheap for black Friday. I still leave jellyfin running for a few users, but everyone else has already switched over.

Simple: It’s diversity. They hate diversity and would rather live their lives only interacting with people like themselves and never having their world view challenged.

It’s racism and there’s a shocking amount of folks who will just straight up tell you that they are racist if it’s not in public where it could affect their jobs. There’s also plenty of losers who don’t care and are just openly racist, but they don’t tend to have careers on the line.

What percentage of the gamers that you know would just be able to find and download an emulator from a git repo hosted on .onion or .i2p?

For me, that’s just me. None of my gamer buddies would put in that effort, they’d just buy a product or play a game from steam.

Pretty slow moving for a survival/crafting game, but we’re both big Tolkien fans and the fan service is pretty great.

Boss fights have been quite interesting and when progression finally happens it feels really satisfying.

Who was using dial up 15 years ago (2009)? I grew up in a very rural area and even we got broadband by like 2003 or so. I think someone got their math wrong.

Weather and other very complex and hard to predict stuff like fluid dynamics, things that don’t have a human or completely random behaviour, is probably the best thing an AI could do for humanity.

Also could be good for understanding animal communication like dolphins etc.

So just like gun control (as in an all-out ban), regulation of free speech/communication is just so risky.

I do think platforms should be doing more to remove disinformation from the mainstream, no matter who it pisses off. Unfortunately that does end up leading to echo chambers when what Americans need is to hear (truth) from all points of view.

This! Health insurance is the reason why medical costs in the US are so ridiculous. Health insurance, and IMO all insurance, is a scam. And since the “customers” (people who NEED care) can’t see the price of service beforehand, there is no way for them to choose the most cost efficient option, which allows providers to charge whatever they want. Then the insurance company can come up with reasons not to pay and put the client on the line for the cost.
