I have one of the hackable OG switch, no chip needed. Tried all the OS options. Pretty fun to tool around with. So cool that people spend that kind of energy making cfw and the like.

What I did end up finding:

It looks like it was a downloadable mobile app that would switch your dns for you instead of manually. There were a couple of obviously-ads tech articles about it’s release and why dns is so important.
