Do you mainly use Android or Linux now for that freedom?
I use Android as my daily phone, but I do keep going that I’ll have a Linux phone that meets my needs some day.
I used an iPhone for a few months last year and I had such a hard time with just how much it costs for apps. Everything is a subscription and you have no options for sideloading your own app or FOSS. I tried to set my alarm to a piece of music that was released under a creative commons license and the only way to do it was to spend $1 with Apple.
CBD.
Living in a prohibition state it helps make it sound legal.
I travel for work quite a bit and always take my Deck with me. Not only is it great in the airport and on the the plane, but then when I get to the hotel I can often hook it up to the tv.
2 weeks ago I was in Podunk, Ky for the week and got over 50 hours of Rocket League in from my hotel bed.
They probably thought you were me, I got blocked above for making a similar point that you’d also made (although I think you did a better job of making the point).
Apparently pointing out that Peertube still has quite a way to go to meet YouTube’s feature set just shows incompetence.
Edit: I actually checked out their profile and we are lucky to have been blocked by them. Everything they post is either pompous, argumentative, dismissive, or some combination.
They are already there, and someone is paying for the storage and bandwidth for what’s already there. Asking for random people to start pulling videos from YouTube and uploading them to someone else’s server is going to very quickly make that server go away.
And yes, I have tried Peertube. My experience is when I click a Peertube link from Lemmy, 9/10 it is a dead link.
Steep (snowboarding, skiing, paragliding, wingsuiting) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (fast travel is an option, but come on, enjoy that ride!) are the two that I really enjoy.
And who is going to pay for the bandwidth and storage space on those peertube instances?
I mean, I too want to get away from YouTube, but it is going to be very difficult to convince people to pay for what YouTube gives away for free.
Wasn’t that with the old administration?
We have a safe at work where we keep backups and ‘legal hold’ stuff. We hardly ever need to get into it. The first audit we had after I started and the guy who had been running things walks up to the safe and just opens it… without entering the code. The auditor looks at me, and I look at my employee and ask him if the safe is broken, and he said “No, I put the code in earlier so it would be easier to open for the audit.”
Needless to say, we got dinged on that part of the audit.
I’ve found that going into a casino is a great way to exchange money when going to Canada.
The issue I have with your reason against it being cyberpunk is that there’s nothing in cyberpunk to say that the fictional roaming nomads aren’t just mobile homeless, able to move to where the work is but never able to find enough work to settle someplace.
Cyberpunk is great for a fictional setting because it looks cool, has some slick character types, fun villains, and relatable heros… but cyberpunk is dirty, and a lot of society in these worlds have been left behind, exploited, and forgotten. I fear that some people view cyberpunk as a society to strive towards, rather than a thought experiment on what could go wrong as we shape our future.
What’s the point in labeling something that’s obvious?
Here in the Midwest we generally have our family egg for lunch on Sunday. Ever since Grandad passed we’ve been able to make thicker slices, but Sissy’s little one is getting to the age that we’re going to have to go back to thinner slices soon. We’re just fortunate that we’re able to get our weekly egg, so we’re not complaining.
You must not be from Mongolia.
Perhaps a comment about Louie G.
Today I was given a 1.3% raise and my 10% bonus was funded at 6%. Immediately after I was told that someone told me they were about to do something that could end up costing the company around $50k. I didn’t stop them.
Increasingly more often Amazon is the publisher.
