Russia is all in on far right discourse all over western countries. Pro Putin have zero interest in woke and socialist culture, it’s basically against all of their values.
They will still fund propagandists who call themselves socialist, hacks like Caleb Maupin and similar dumbasses.
Yeah their goal is to sow discord and infighting. While generally that’s best done with far right, it’s also in their interest to have mouthpieces who will say anything that can cause additional hostility
At this point their values are basically hyperreality and goading the population back to serfdom
Y’know the funniest part? Russian govt says the exact same fucking thing about the US, just replace magots and communists with, say, anyone who doesn’t accept Putin as our lord and savior and Ukrainians (they were apparently planning to attack us all along 'cuz the US told 'em to or something).
No Communist supports the Russian Federation, or thinks of it as anything more than a highly reactionary, nationalist, Capitalist country that adopts an anti-Western stance out of necessity. The concept of “critical support” comes from seeing a temporary, unstable, backwards entity that must take a stance against a shared enemy.
The reason Communists oppose Western Hegemony is because the United States and Western Europe are the most Imperialist countries on the planet, that is, they export Capital to the Global South and use their military power to force highly unequal trade deals. Producing commodities for cents and importing them back to the West to sell for dozens to hundreds of times more is how Imperialism functions, and NATO serves as the military alliance that solidifies this process.
Of course Russia would join this group of Imperialists if they could. They even tried to! After the fall of the Soviet Union, the state was sliced up and sold to the West. When a rising, right-wing nationalist movement reclaimed industry in the hands of Russian bourgeoisie, the West was made an enemy. The RF tried to join NATO, they wanted to be a part of the Imperialist club, but the West declared that there wasn’t room for Russia in the club. This is the crux of the conflict, of course Russia would exploit the Global South in the same way if they could, but the Global South is firmly under the thumb of the West already and there isn’t room for Russia.
The reason MAGA supports Russia is because Russia is reactionary, nationalistic, and far-right. These are appealing qualities to MAGA, who want the same thing Russia has domestically. Communists absolutely do not, while MAGA does.
Hope that explains it for everyone, it’s extremely oversimplified so tons of things were left out.
