To me, it’s more about them not being able to reconcile an obvious conflict within themselves. They feel so strongly about what they are is right and just, or maybe just permanent, that they can clearly identify they are incapable in achieving something so important to them they accept the inability as their identity. Even though they accept it, they will not accept any outside assistance in correcting it.
I just think you’re using the term too broadly and it’s making upset because I never wanted to be in the position of defending incels.
