  • I see the appeal with unRAID! My drives are pretty straight forward though I pretty much only plan to use the 2 4TB drives. Will probably skip the RAID for now (it’s not going to store anything SUPER important) and just use it as a hobby test server.

Ollama of course! Looks like the 1080s should be able to handle most 7B models. Exciting! Thanks for the help and suggestions!

  • Pretty sure it has 2 HDD bays, so I was thinking I would do something similar to the Synology Hybrid RAID on a 4TB drive. On retrospect though this might be way too crippling of a move for a play server, so I might forgo the RAID idea.

The Linux Upskill Challenge looks perfect! I feel comfortable with about 40% of the table of contents. Should be a fun weekend of experimenting.

    Thanks for the help!

  • Wakfu. MMO in a kinda cutesy animation style. Combat is turn based, very final fantasy tactics (which I enjoy), and actually quite complex. You can spend ages min maxing your build.

There’s an actual lore and storyline (and crazy enough an entire TV show). Harvesting and crafting professions that are fun and useful. A kind of player housing. Mounts. All shop items are cosmetic or resets only.

It’s a great game that’s been around for a long time and isn’t going anywhere.

Jump on the Ogrest server, which is the most active international server today.

Try Wakfu. There are a lot of chill trades to grind casually and the economy is completely player driven. There are no NPCs to buy or sell your loot to.

The PvE gameplay loop is really fun. The game has an adjustable level system that encourages players to replay lower level dungeons. Battles are turn based and have a surprising amount of strategy.

The only real problem with the game is that the devs seem to not care about player growth at all. They do zero marketing and sometimes the registration system is broken and won’t get fixed for awhile. It’s like the opposite problem to RuneScape.
